Downtown Las Vegas Hotels
Downtown Las Vegas Hotels are some of the most old-school and authentic in town. If you are looking for the dazzling array of neon and flashing lights Vegas is famous for, then downtown is the place to go.
Fremont Street is the main thoroughfare and home to most all the casinos in the downtown area. The street was closed to traffic and covered several years back, giving it the feel of an urban pedestrian mall.
The roof lights up at nighttime in a dazzling display, adding to the effect of the glittering lights literally covering the casinos lining the street.
Quite often, live bands play at designated stages along Fremont Street, and a variety of street performers also draw crowds, giving the area a festive, energetic feel year-round.
While most of the downtown hotels pre-date the in-house wedding chapel phenomenon, some do have their own wedding planning staff.
In addition, a wide variety of independent wedding chapels are within a few blocks of Fremont street.
Fremont Street Hotels:
4 Queens Hotel and Casino was recently renovated, and it takes up a full block on Fremont street. It's not our first choice for a downtown hotel, but if the price is right, it's worth a look. Like most downtown hotels, the rooms are on the small side. Though there is no in-house chapel, several wedding chapels are nearby.
Binions Las Vegas is one of the grand old hotels in the city. Famous as the birthplace of the World Series of Poker, Binions is a great place to gamble, especially at the card tables. No in house wedding staff, but close to chapels. Rooms are small but nice enough.
The Fremont Casino Hotel is another stalwart of the downtown scene. The Fremont has small but clean rooms and a laid back casino. It's a nice old place, and it often has reasonable rates. No in-house weddings, but several chapels are nearby. Worth checking out if you're into the classic vegas experience.
The Golden Gate Hotel Casino is often voted best of the downtown Las Vegas hotels. It is a warm and friendly place with lots of history. The rooms are clean if small (like most downtown rooms). No in house wedding staff, but many nearby chapels make it a fine choice if you are looking to get married downtown.
The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino has become surprisingly hip and fun of late, most notably with the addition of their three story water slide which runs (in a clear tube) right through their shark tank (how cool is that!). They have an in-house wedding staff too, so it is definitely a place to check out.
The Plaza Hotel and Casino sits at the end of Fremont Street. One of the better downtown Las Vegas hotels, it has an in-house wedding chapel, which is all but unheard of on Fremont Street. Wedding packages start at $165, so it is definitely a place to check out if you are staying downtown.
Downtown Las Vegas has an energy that really harks back to the city's past. The pedestrian mall makes getting arouns easy, far easier than on the Strip.
So if you are looking for a fun, laid back time in a classic hotel casino, take time to consider these Downtown Las Vegas hotels.
